Jason is correct, the USB port can only sustain a very small ammount of current. In fact connecting too many devices to a USB port can damage it permanently.

The point being that power supplies are so cheap these days it's not worth the risk.

Yes, you need to supply power, the 5v over the USB is not enough.

Builders Discussions / Opencockpits hardware question
Last post by silverfibre - August 08, 2025, 05:32:05 AM
Hi all,

I recently bought someone's old A320 cockpit project. It was a bit of a mess, but I now have inputs responding in the SIOC software, and LED's switching on and off. However the 7-segment display it rather dead.

The 7-segment displays are connected to an IOCard Display, which is connected to a Master card, which is then connected to the USB Expansion card.

My question is, does the Master card need to be supplied by a separate 5v power supply to the two 5v pins? I presume the USB's 5v might not be enough to drive everything.

Hoping someone might now as this hardware is quite old now.

Thanks,
Rob

Interesting product.

Do you have some photos to post? I would be interested in hearing more about this.

Thanks

Hope you're well my friend.

General Discussion Board. / Revsim Motorised TQ
Last post by MikeG - July 12, 2025, 12:27:11 AM
We are running Prosim 737 (last version supporting Revsim TQ) with MSFS 2020 and Windows 11. We have tried to recalibrate our Revsim TQ using calibration software version 1.7. but get the error "HID not detected" (also tried using Windows 7 with same result). I read on your forum that a user back in 2017 was able to successfully recalibrate using version 2.2.05 under Windows 10. The TQ appears to be a plug and play version and not using SIOC.

If anyone is able to send me a copy of version 2.2.05 it would be very much appreciated.

Thankyou

Neat idea there, an answer to a common problem. I have always spent hours remaking the panels. And they're never as good as the originals.

Unexpected method but clever and obviously effective !
