Since the early models they certainly offer much more now, no more matrix, joystick input, encoders, etc
I invite you to check:

Handy when one of the networked computers handles utilities which are keyboard driven,
Lightens the load on the main FSUIPC computer.
Worth thinking about..

Jack,

Perfect timing, you rock! This looks like it might solve my problem!

I am in exceptionally thick mode tonight... how do they lighten the load on the main FSUIPC computer?  ???

What do you guys use for CDU keyboards btw? I was looking at the OpenCockpits one (as I'm a cheap freak).

I've just finished building the second CDU form Open Cockpits, very nice kits but you need to be able to solder and have some skill in kit building  ;)
They are conected to the OC USB Keys card and using SONY PSI screens bought from eBay.

Takes a little time but like you Neo, I go for the cheap option where practical.

Also depends if your building the cdu yourself, using a kit such as Joe or looking out for a real used unit. The 11x8 matrix wont work on a Boeing unit for eg. Just something to keep in mind.
