I for the life of me cannot get a stable picture on the opencockpits CDU...

NTSC - nothing visable..
PAL - writing on the screen but looses Horizontal sync continuously.. shearing across the screen.. picture is very! unstable..
(the manual says PAL)..

running on XP-professional, and tried the following cards:
Nvidia 8800GT (2 different cards)
ATI X300
all with exactly the same results..
Then thought it was maybe a faulty unit.. so unwrapped the 2nd CDU I have for the FO, not used before, plugged it in same result..
then thought power supply issue.. powered it up on my benchtop supply, same issue..
read in the manual to connect a 75ohm resistor across the signal to ground for loading on the card, tried but same result..
So it must be a PC issue.. and the PAL settings.
tried 1024X768, 800X600, 720X576, 640X480 tried NTSC, NTSC/japan, PAL, PAL/M, PAL(Australia), PAL(UK), PAL(Spain) all with no change to the results..

Can anyone shed some light on this problem please?

I might be wrong but have you tried changing the resolution?

NeoMorph

I have a feeling it's the refresh rate and not the resolution that is at fault.

Make sure it's set to 60hz.

Yeah you could be right there.

How exactly are you connecting the OC FMC to your video card. It has an RCA TV connection for the video but your graphics card don't have this output????

#5
60hz is the only option I have..
many resolutions have been tried.. (listed in post)..
and connection is via a SVGA - Composite adaptor.. tried both a single cable type SVGA at one end - RCA other
and a plug in type..

both give same result..

I went to see my local computer store yesterday, and he has got for me (comes in today!) a 9pin VGA to RCA composite TV out adaptor
Which I am going to try off a standard 9pin VGA port to see if that works..

I may just end up changing the screen...  found a 5" LCD color screen VGA input (just screen & controller) for $A100 inc postage,
then all the problems just go away!

It's so annoying when the simplest things give you the most grief!

I thought you was already using a vga to composite convertor.

I got mine off ebay for a really cheap price.

The vga screens arrived (link in previous reply).. easy to swap over.. no more problem!
