Hi everyone,

Anybody have experience with dual Triplehead2Go setups?  I have a single TH2GO on one of my two video cards which works perfect. I am considering installing a second TH2GO on my second video card. Anyone have experience with dual TH2GOs?

Thanks,

Gil

Hi Gil,

I don't have any direct experience but its certainly doable.  Go to the Matrox website and they list it as an option and I think there is some instructions for it too.  The main caveat is the same as using one TH2GO, all monitors must have the same resolution.  There's also some video on youtube of multiple TH2GO's.

Hi Gill
just remember as soon as you split graphics over 2 separate video cards you'll get a hit on the FPS. This is why we use TH2Go  in the first place. This is a windows/hardware problem.
Maybe 2 TH2Go's on 1 video card with 2 DVI outputs would work but you'd need a lot of video memory on that 1 card. Maybe 2Gb of GPU memory??

I used to run 2 42" plasma screens as my out the window view. 2 screens 1 video card 2 DVI connections to that one card. There was no frame hit as you are still just drawing 1 window. Video ram does not matter as much as CPU horsepower as has been stated many times when it come to FS9 and FSX.

Kennair

Depends what you're going to display on the screens.  If you are displaying just one wide view stretched across multiple screens then there is really no hit as Bob says.  The running of the monitors off the card isn't the issue, its the separate views that you put there that does.  Each FS window that you undock reduces frame rates noticeably depending on your CPU power and overall system.  The config guru Nick_N over at Simforums recommends a video card with at least 2gb of video memory if you're running a TH2GO and multiple undocked views along with extensive tweaking to both windows and FS, so if you haven't already I'd highly recommend studying his guides if you plan on running 6 screens off the one system.

Good luck,

Ken.

Yup as Ken says. Start undocking and you start killing frame rates.....

whilst undocking windows does affect frame rates, try moving those undocked windows onto another monitor which is connected to another video card and you'll see what I mean. FSX/ windows doesn't like multiple monitors on different video cards but multiple monitors on 1 video card is less of a problem, and if any of your undocked views accidentally overlaps onto a monitor on the second graphics card by even 1 pixel  then FSX will grind to a halt. (I've been down this road  that's why I have TH2Go for outside view with 2-42 inch screens and all else on a separate PC with 2 graphics cards and 4 monitors
