I have some measurements from Nick1150, if it helps:

-From the front end of FDS shell to the front edge of the seat cushion, (for both seat movement positions - full forward and full back)?

Nick1150:
Don't forget I have RSP J-rails, but anyway having the seat in the center position (full height) with the J-rail full aft it is 131.5 cms and full forward it is 107.6 cms.

I may be shrinking with age but I was still 6'0 ft during my last medicalexam (why they measure your height at my age is beyond my comprehension  Note: I had to remove the space between medic..& exam because the autocorrection changed medic.l to homosexual (I kidd you not), so the preview showed "my last medical' instead of last medic.l. Trev, you may want to fix this  . Good thing I tried the preview first.

Anyway, can't really supply accurate dimensions since I move my seat all the time and my straight rails in no way match the placement of the real rails. So, not even sure why you need these measurements anyway. Why not place the seat where it is comfortable for you regardless of where they are in real life? Trust me, your rear end won't care as long as you can see where you are going

What I need basically is the A and B measures as my seat have a spring in the base which allows height adjustment. They go up when you release a catch and go down if you release the catch and stay on it. Problem they do not seem to go low enough and I sit too high.
My ideal position would be 17" from floor. My seats do not go below 18-19 unless I remove the Spring (major job) So just checking.

Ok, my seats at their highest position are A: 18.5" & B: 20". That is the height at the top of the cushion. I wish mine would go a bit higher than that actually but this height works OK for my height.

If you think your seats are too high, that could be because the maximum height of your glareshield is different (lower?) than mine (yours is the more accurate height)

Mines are 18-19 without the cushion, Which would be fine but the overhead is really too close for comfort.
From memory my glareshield is lower than yours, good point.

I'am just trying to save the spring system. Otherwise I'll have it remove ,set to my preference
and locked.
(John) I intend to keep those seats first because I prefer to spend 3K on FDS Rudders than on new seats, and second because besides height they adjust N-S and E-W without J-Rails and recline at will.

I am sure you thought about that but in case you did not, can you not recess the seats inside the platform? In other words, the base of the seats would be lower than the floor of the platform.

No worries about other seats Jack...

Like Maurice suggest, you could lower them into the floor, or do what we did here, raise the shell and MIP up to where your seat would be in the middle of the height. So, you can now set it lower for taller people and higher for shorter people. Basically, just some spacers under the shell and MIP...

Then again, you cutout your floor and lower the seat base down, so the same middle height of the seat is dominent, and then all you have to do is make some screw down type removable covers (with diamond shaped material attached) to cover over the holes and seat mounts.

Did you get the dimensions for FF and FB from the front edge of the seat cushion and the MIP lower light tray edge. I do not have the FDS shell, so the dimensions given above do not apply. I need to outline my range of seat position so FF and FB would be very helpful

Hard to tell as:

depending where the yoke column is
and also if you have cutouts in the seat base
Also depends on the seat adjustment range.

My2¢ now (months later)... has to fit your own body VRef! lol

Hi Jack

My seats have cut outs and I was assuming the yoke to be in neutral position. I am now welding the base construction and wanted to get a rough idea of where the seat might be full fwd and full aft. So that I do not weld things in the wrong place
