MIP Screens

[mswift]

Hello
I've taken the first step with my cockpit build by purchasing a full MIP panel set from Cockpitsimparts. It arrived today and is a very well made product but I need to fill some of those gaping holes!!!!
Can anyone help with a source of 10" screens (8" square), preferably in the UK but if not then a good reliable source off-shore.

Unless you want to spend a fortune in custom Lcds and video cards, here is the way to do it (as basically everyone else did)

PFD/ND on one monitor (18½ or 19" wide)
Eicas upper and standbys on one regular good old 15" (EBay)
Eicas lower on one 10"wide  or  a regular 12"if you do not have a working FO-CDU.

Check below.
Cheers
Jack

Thanks Jack
Obvious when shown!!!!!!

This brings up another question as I look at what is ahead and probably the million questions that I'm likely to ask. Is there a way to follow a thread or a cockpit build as it progressed as my questions must surely have been asked many times before.
Is there somewhere on the forum where this info is hidden?

Must say, I have only been on the forum a wee while and I'm incredibly impressed with members help and support, just the thing when your taking hour first tentative steps.
Many thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,  there will indeed be lots of digging you need to do.  Mostly the information you seek is here, but there is no right or wrong order.  Generally you build what you can afford, and move to each area as a separate part.

Concentrate on building a frame for your MIP.  (We call this a MIP Stand) If you goto the search Box and type *Mip* or *MIP STAND* You should get hits.

Generally it is like a shelf that holds your MIP and monitors.

Look through the gallery and see what others have built.

Also some pictures are attached to posts, and to be honest looking at Beechcraft posts are just as important as most of us all do things the same way regardless of the aircraft selected.

You will also want to explore pulling the plastics off your monitors so they sit flush to the MIP.

This is all a good start for you, good luck and Search, There is no ONE Holy Grail Post here...  All the little posts make up the Holy Grail.  If it was quick and easy, everyone would be doing it.  Just take your time and enjoy the build, so many people rush into this headfirst and try to do it all in one night, and they get sick of it fast.

Thanks Trevor
Sounds like I too might become chained to this site, talk about a glutton for punishment.
Whilst I am and always have been crazy about flying since day one of flight sims, my first passion (quest) is nearly at an end (see photo attached).....it's about 6 feet long.
Anyway, can't wait to get stuck into this MIP so hopefully you will see dialogue and photos as I progress to help and encourage other crazy people if possible.
Again, many thanks
Mike

As Trevor said, here is the kind of answer  you can get with the search function:
Search: MIP Stand

Beautiful loco! Is it 5" gauge?

Rail - more specifically electric trams - is also a passion of mine. I actually have a kilometre of 7.25" gauge tramway with working overhead and 750 metres of 2 foot gauge in addition to my 737 sim.

Anyway, I am running way OT and don't want to get in trouble lol. Back to the MIP screens....

Cheers,
Karl

If you scratch built that loco a 737 is going to be a breeze...

Those links that Jack sent are a good place to start and if you want some real in depth stuff, have a look at this Belgian guy Rudy's site, he's documented a mass of information.

http://www.737ngproject.be/

Also my old mate Ian:
http://www.737ng.co.uk/technical.htm

Both of these are massive sites, but well worth spending the time browsing, particularly if you intend to build rather than buy.

Hope that helps, best of luck and welcome...

Joe.
