Good evening,

I'm currently looking for 2 of the dual concentric rotary/encoders for the N1 and SPD Ref. I believe they are 45degree rotaries on the lower and the encoders on the upper. I know sismo sells this however I'm looking for something possibly cheaper and that can be mounted by a washer and nut instead of their mounting solution (bolt). let me know what you guys have done for this situation.

My other option would be to possibly buy the Opencockpits or Sismo full panel and connect them to the MIP board via the ribbon cables included. Not sure how that would work out either. I attached the data sheets for the sismo and cpflight board to see them how they would connect.

Thanks in advance,

Nick

I would suggest using Anders Sim Parts units.   They are much better quality, and also work like the real thing.  (the real switches are not encoders, they are a 2-stage spring loaded switch that returns to center, first stage adjusts the "1"s and second stage adjusts the "10"s.)  Prosim supports this switching setup as well.

They mount with a nut and washer like normal rotary switches.

I had a set previously before i upgraded,  and they are awesome - highly recommended.

Not exactly cheaper, but easier to install and interface

My advice is also to buy from anders simparts, i have tried to build these (without the spring functionality) but they end up like crap with no quality.

An alternative is to find old panels with these switches in them, but its prob more cheap to buy Anders switches. Thats what i will do if i dont find the OEM on some panel.

Wow$310 for that thing. Thats a bit steep. Another few options is what i am currently looking at. Its a treasure hunt but still...

Check out your local thrift stores and second hand shops for electronics, Also pawn shops for electronics. You would be surprised on what you can find.

It may seem a little pricey, and it is, but keep in mind it is a very specialized switch. The real one is probably about 3k. It all depends on what you want. I personally would not pay that for those switches, but his 737 engine start switches.. I will own a set of those!

Just a note, the N1 and speed ref controls are basically never used unless both FMS are out of whack.

Agree with Jack,

Don't get hung up on the 'accuracy' of controls that you'll use once or twice to see if it works and that's it.

That is for the pair, not just one switch.
