Hey Everyone,

Off simulator subject questions. Okay, I am trying to decide on buying a router connected outside omnidirectional antenna that will roughly hit 0.5-1mile or 12-15dbi; however, with all the choices out there, I am wondering if anyone has a setup already? Thus, can anyone provide some first hand info on what is working for them now.

This antenna is just to extend my internet further out around my house from the connection inside the shed/hanger. And, since the shed is all metal I cannot get outside of it even with highest gain router I have.

Plus, with this in mind, does anyone have an external cell phone tower receiver/amplifer antenna they can recommend, something you are currently using?

Like the internet not getting out, the cell phone signal does not come in, nor do I want to use my cell for calls through the internet connection; I just want to receive the standard cell signals.

Regarding the signal receiver amplifier.....I would suggest talking to your local internet provider.  They can install a signal receipt booster for you which will cover the entire local neighborhood.  Typically they do that gratis since it extends the reach (and quality) of their customer coverage.

Another idea....why not position your router on the outside the metal building (with proper enclosure protection of course).  Then run a cable through the wall into the metal building that connects with a WIFI extender. I basically use that setup in my basement where the sim is located.  Works absolutely fine.
