hi guys..........
i'm looking to add a second CDU in the cockpit to replace the dummy i now have as i progress with the Prosim installation. so as cost is a major factor,   i have been doing a little homework and just wanted to get some feedback from anyone who has been down this road.

for years i have used my trusty Engravity CDU which makes me a little hesitant to change because it has given me excellent service. however looking at the cost, it appears to me that the FDS CDU even after adding the shipping and local taxes is quite a lot cheaper than the Engravity unit.

so, my question is: has anyone bought and installed an FDS CDU and hooked it up to Prosim without any issues. i see the hardware compatibility list at Prosim Lists the FDS CDU, but it has only been tested by 3rd parties and not Marty & Hanne themselves so i just want to see what my options are here before i go any further.

any input would be greatly appreciatted chaps.............

thanks in advance

Hi CPT Ian with the big beerbox  ;D

Our friend Pim in Holland has now bought the FDS CDU and moved the Engravity one to F/O side.
FDS - nice one, but not soo much cheaper when paying shipping, 20% VAT.
Buttons slightly better on the Engravity CDU, but FDS have a nice color screen.

Hello Ian,

I have been testing ProSim with FDS CDUs and SYS cards for about 3 months now mainly because I want to keep up with what is available and because ProSim is still in free beta test mode.   I worked with Marty on a couple issues that where occurring way back in august or sept and he fixed them in a build immediately back then and since then they have worked flawlessly.    So with that said I can state that the FDS CDUs work absolutely flawlessly now with ProSim and I can highly recommend them.   I am happy to answer any questions.  I could even do a quick video if you want.

Best regards,
Scott

PS- at this time I am still primarily using Sim-Avionics but again, like to keep up with all available options for my sim.   ProSim is definitely top notch and from what we all know the pricing will be really hard to beat for those who haven't purchased anything yet.
