I just watched a near tragedy unfold in the skies over San Diego. The UK team Speedbird 73C arrived at destination near San Diego while running on fumes. The 2 pilots put on their life jackets and announced a possible ditching to the passengers.

They were quite hilarious and I must say, the pilot really kept his cool and managed a somewhat scary landing under a very stressful situation. In fact, I was more stressed than they were as I saw the fuel gauges showing practically empty while near the final approach. I was sure they were going to crash in the city but a real tragedy was averted. I hope the residents of San Diego were not watching the live feed at that time.  :o  ;D

My congrats to that team's captain for his calmness.  Must have been the fo's fault for the fuel loading LOL.
