Prepar3d v2 How add a new Event Id?

This is part of the post below.

If you want a add a new 'event.id' to Standard.xml for a switch to your cockpit panel, how do you do it.

Because when I try adding something to the file it gets overwritten!

I know this must sound like a too good to be true answer, but when you state your settings you add keep getting overwritten after you safe the file (*.xml) have you tried making your settings, and then change the file to "read only" would that sort it out ? or does the XML file really have to be "Read&Write" capabilities ?
