Screen placement behind MIP

Hi guys,
I am starting to build all my components together now in final construction.
I am using the engravity MIP on top of a constructed base. In positioning the screens behind the windows on the MIP, there is a gap of around 15mm at the bottom between the LCD screen and the MIP screen with a gap of only around 5mm at the top. This is due to the base of the Engravity MIP having some construction at the bottom which allows the LCD screen to pass down below the bottom of the MIP but pushes it away from the MIP a bit as you move it down.
Hope that makes sense, basically is this going to cause any problems in viewing, does it only work well with the LCD screen hard up behind the MIP screens or does a gap not make any difference?
Many thanks, Steve

Sean

I know exactly what you mean, I have the Engravity desktop MIP too. It doesn't affect the viewing off the screens at all, but what I've done is use that sticky backed black foam strip to close the gap between screen and MIP. This also pushed the top of the screen out a little, so the screen was parallel with the MIP.

Most people have made sacrifices when it comes to screen placement, especially the centre screens. I've seen setups where the centre monitors are about 1-2 inches behing the glass and it's hard to notice if done with a bit of thought.

Come and see mine (and another local to me) and you can collect your seat. ;-)

Did you remove the monitor  plastic casing and use an 18½ monitor ?

Hello Jack, Yeah, It is indeed an 18.5 monitor stripped out of the casing, so all good there.

The problem can be solved by hacking a little more away from the base of the Engravity MIP, however, I am keen not to destroy the structure too much and really would like to understand if it is actually a problem at all.

This week I will fire up all displays for realm so can report back first hand on how the MIP looks with this slight gap. It does look ok with a windows desktop, however just need to make sure the ProSim displays look good. Will let you know.

Cheers!
