Flight Control Pot bleedover

Hello all.  Still pounding away at this.  Got Prosim 2.0 in and now I'm refining the flight controls and setting them up within Prosim.

Issue:  I have a lot of bleedover in my axis.  I think it's due to the grounding on the Bodnar card.  I'm using single-conductor stranded 22AWG wire for the pots, twisted together ala FDS style.

Should I switch to 2-conductor shielded cable and for the three connections or is that overkill?  Any ideas?

I've got a mix of pots and I'm also thinking of making them all 10K Ohm.

Thoughts?

I'm using a simple three wire setup that are just held together with tie wraps running to each pot from the card. Some runs are 5 feet in length.

No bleed over at all. Using all 10k pots.
My 737-800 full-scale cockpit has been sold. Now onto my full-size military helicopter project. An AOPA member and LifeTime member of National Association of Flight Instructors. Please note that I am a self-employed professional cockpit builder that provides consulting to defense contractors and civilian schools and airlines.

Hi Warren,

I remember fighting with the Flight controls on Sam's Sim.  We dropped the Prosim Calibration for aileron, elevator and Rudder, calibrated them through FSUIPC instead.

Maybe have a go at that.

I've tried them in FSUIPC and Prosim.  The three main controls aren't too bad, it's once I start adding brakes for both sides that things go bad.

Gooday Warren, I would recommend that you use 3 core shielded wire and earth the pot end to the back of the case on the pot.

There is a lot of noise in a sim, so the more you can shield the better.

Watch out for cheap power supplies and especially 400 Hz. PS's.

When you say earth to the back of the pot, do you mean solder the shielding to the pot casing?  What about the shielding on the other end of the run?

Yes, solder to the pot casing. Usually leave one end free to stop feed-back loops is the normal way of doing it.
