Mixed monitor sizes - good idea or not

I've currently got 3x23" led monitors for my out of the window view.

My goal is to get 3 x 42" monitors.

However it's going to take a while to get there so wanted to get 1 x 42" to start with and see me by for 12 months.

I would ideally like to use 2 of the 23" monitors for the sides maybe positioned as 20deg from the 42".

My question is. Does it work mixing the screen sizes?  I know it's not ideal but it's a stepping stone till I can get the others.

I use P3D 4.2 with view groups.

The Short answer is yes it will work.  Will it be perfect?? Not likely.  I use a 54" for my front view and 19" WS for my pilot and fo side views.  It works for me because I am not trying to achieve fluid surround.  If your intention is to but the 23" monitors to the 42, you will never get them to line up.

Trevor is right, it won't line up but it is worth it.  My old mate Ian Sissons  had a projector for his front view and 2 x 19 inch monitors for the side views which worked fine.

Thanks for coming back to me and sharing your experiences.

I guess the question now is. Will it be better than 3x23" which does give a seamless view that butt up nicely but isn't a very big a screen?

When I get the 42" screens I did wonder whether I turn the 23" left and right vertical so it's closer to the height of the 42". Would that work better?

Also would you try and butt them up together or have gaps?

I think that butting the up will give the best effect and try to get the smallest bezel for your screens.

Rotated screens can work quite well, but make sure the viewing angle is sufficient, some screens have a very narrow angle when viewed from the top down, which is the angle you will be using if you rotate the screen.
