Thickness of a resl 737-800 Glareshield / MCP Light panel

I am using 8mm thick MDF with vinyl, so my MCP light panel / glareshield is 10mm thick in total.

Does anyone know the real thickness?

I want to use 10mm mdf + 2mm vinyl wrap. But maybe its too thick, maybe you wont notice 2 extra mm?

The two Glareshields from 737 classics I have are sheet aluminum. Perhaps 4mm maximum thickness

Thanks, i know the Classic is much thinner than the NGs.

The glareshield is 2 major parts, the thin cover that extends to the front windows, and the front bumper section that houses the lighting unit.

That front section above the MCP is approx 1/2" thick - 12.7mm

I am lucky to owner a actual copy of a NG glareshield, exactly like Micks drawings. only difference with mine are the "plastic" parts being made from polyester/fibreglass and not some other strong composite material like the real thing.
I took some pics of the front of the glare showing the lip where the lightstrip sits behind. I think its about 5-6mm deep then add the tickness of the panel (2 mm). The mounting holes for the lightstrip are sunken inside the top cover (if this makes sense...)
There is about 5-6mm of space between the MCP lightplate and the top cover. MCP is cpflight pro V2, it fits the mounting nut plates without any modifications.
Hope this helps, and i am sure a couple of mm of difference wont matter.

You may consider using a PVC (various thickness) thermo bendable
Can be textured painted any color

I really like the feel of the black vinyl.

Hopefully i can get some help from a local company that provides routing service so i can install the LED diffuser in my MCP.

Hey Kurt you don't need to spend a fortune on a Router, shops like Aldi and Lidl sell them regularly for under £25.00. Just look around your DIY stores the larger ones will generally offer cheaper units. You could even route than small a slot with a Dremel.
