I am using a Polyclutch for my throttles and have found a nice big sprocket that i will clamp onto the polyclutch.

Now my question is if i really need a shaft on the other end of the clutch?

I have seen Rob and Scotts setup and they only attach the clutch to the motor.

Anyone with experience (Scott and Rob read this :))

Did they work ok all the time and is there risk of damaging the clutch?

This will be my setup:

With those smaller Slip-Ease clutches, you would be better off with the other shaft.
If you grab the sprocket you will feel that it has quite a bit of play in it.  Once you tension the cables a little, the sprocket will pull to one side slightly and be noisy and cause premature wear, especially as you are using plastic chain.

From what i have seen, I think Scott and Rob use the bigger Poly clutches with either a through shaft or internal bearing,

The clutches you have will work fine, I used the same ones in my previous TQ, but found i needed the second shaft.

Thanks Mick.

I will try to find a 3/16 shaft with bearing. Thanks again!

How did you attach your sprockets to the polyclutch?

How did you attach your sprockets to the polyclutch?

They are plate sprockets, and the center is bored out to a tiny bit smaller than the boss on the end of the clutch.  Then I applied Loctite 680 and pressed them on.  The end of the clutch comes off if you take off the circlip.
