Just one hour after cutting off all the connectors of an ATX power supply, I came across this circuit board from FDS which would have made the connections a lot simpler and much more elegant. If only I had procrastined just a bit longer  :( . Luckily ATX power supplies are pretty cheap these days so all is not lost.

LOL Dont despair Mau,

Even though it is a sweet board, I think FDS have ditched it for a screw terminal
type connection now...Steve may confirm, or I'll ask him next time I "see" him.

Hi,

We did change it to a "screw type" system, the amount of current for IBL (B737,B747,B787 and A320) required a connector to handle bigger wire. This is a great updated version of our popular IBL Distribution Board.

Hi all

I did something similar for my powere distribution using vero strip board and some push connectors, (saves fiddling about with springy wires and a screwdriver).   ;)
The 3 rows on the left are 12 volt and the one on the right is 5 volt, simple but it works. The big bundle on the left are the redundant wires from the ATX PS.

Hi Joe
would you have origin/part number for those push connectors?

Hi Jack,

Sorry it took so long to reply, I had to go back though my orders.  ???
Anyway, I bought them from Rapid Electronics (UK)
https://www.rapidonline.com/productinfo.aspx?&tier1=Cables+%26+Connectors&tier2=Connectors+-+Terminal+Blocks&tier3=Screwless+PCB&tier4=Screwless+terminal+blocks+PCB+fitting&moduleno=73517&catref=21-2626

They also sell them in 3 and 8 way, which are useful if you need a quick method of connecting/disconnecting a panel, gauge, or whatever.

Cheers  :)

Thank you very much Joe for posting this. It reminded me that several years ago, I bought 3 sets of speaker terminal connectors in a surplus store not knowing what I would ever do with them. So I went looking at one of my junk boxes and lo and behold, here they are in all their glory. I should really visit my junk boxes more often  :)

How right you are Maurice, I thought I was the only one with a junk box. People give me all sorts of obsolete equipment and it's surprising what you can salvage from things like printers, phones and even computers.  :)
