Despite  sadly  selling my motion base, I am still determined to gain some movement sensation for my simulator

Thinking about perceived movement in airliners, my experience is that the majority of sensation is acceleration, braking and chop (rapid up/down) when in turbulence, also sway, when landing cross wind. Banking is rarely felt.

This has led me to consider positioning my cockpit on a pivot eg a "seesaw". The simplest way would be a centre pivot with the cockpit balanced at the central pivot point. An electric actuator(s) could then provide the up/down movement from the ends of the "seesaw" which would provide acceleration/braking sensations. Provided that the seat was not positioned over the fulcrum point, then light chop could also be perceived

Based on my experience on Scott`s simulator, the visuals more than provided for a banking sensation. The only thing missing would be "heave" and "sway"  - perhaps not critical

Anyone see any major flaws in my logic?

Makes perfect sense David as long as you know that the screen also has to move along with the sim. That is not an easy thing to do especially since the projectors need to move as well. I think it would be a lot easier with TVs instead of projectors but I forget what you are currently using.

Hi Maurice

Thanks and yes I do plan to move the screen as well. The screen and projectors would be fixed to the cockpit framework. Just do not know whether to go with projectors or tv`s :(
This could take a while to resolve :)
