I am searching for look-alike DZUS fasteners that can be used with the standard FDS B737 overhead panel frames. I know Opencockpits sell them with an M4 screw and nut (see picture) but will they fit? Does anyone has experience?

Hi Edward

Does your OH Frame have DZus rails? Just checking.
If not, Im sure the OC Dzus replicas will fit. You "may" have to clean up
the holes if the M4 bolts are tight thats all.

Hi Nat,

I did not order panels yet but I will obviously not go for DZUS rails. I hope FDS will come with a solution in case the OC DZUS replica's will not natively fit. I understood their service is great.

Edward, I would suggest you speak to Phil (simvionics) as his DZUS replica's are certainly the best I have seen and a lot better than the OC version,

One wheel landings, tail scrapes... just doing my best!!

Thanks Rhys for the hint. I tried to get a response from Phil but no success so far. I think I can live, however, with the OC replica DZUS with M4 screw. They look solid on the picture.

Any Dzus replica will fit any panel basically as long as both are exact replicas.
Even then there is a lot of margin .
You do not really need them to be strong, plastic replicas are as nice and much cheaper.

For that reason I prefer look-alike's with M4 screw above exact replica's. It's simple imo and also cheaper since I do not need to bye DZUS rails. For genuine panels it's another story of course.

Look alike with M4 are considered exact replicas (same outside diameter and height)
That's what Phil, Ruscool and others are producing.
My 2¢: go for the plastic cheaper sort with M4 because you will need a ton of them for the overheads, and the screw does the job.

Thanks Jack, do you have a reference where I can get the cheap plastic ones (preferably Europe)?

Edward, here are a couple of links for you:

The Simworld ones look the best, they're in Europe and made from aluminium.
http://www.simworld.pl/shop/product_info.php?products_id=25

These guys offer a set with screws if you're a member of their forum.

Open Cockpit, (which I think you know about)
http://www.opencockpits.com/catalog/replica-fastener-dzus-pintado-airbusx6-p-285.html?language=en

There also Fly Engravity in Europe.

http://www.viperpanels.com/?shopp_product=dzus-fasteners-faux-black-nylon.

And of course FDS but they're in Canada

I got mine the long, way by drawing the cap in AutoCAD and had 200 made by a local engineering company.
At the time none of these other option were available. So they cost me more than I could get them for now.

Hope that helps.

Joe.
