A little tip for the Ye Olde Projector faithful.
Its really obvious and I tell people to do it all the time, but I never did for five years
till today...paint the ceiling and walls above below screen BLACK!

I was getting terrible reflections from the projected image bouncing off the pristine white ceiling that was making the image slightly washed out and bugging me for years.
Now the contrast and overall quality is hugely improved ( no not up to TV standards!  ;D )
and I can enjoy day flying again.

Pictures don't really show the improvement but here are a few anyway...

Thanks Nat! Are these projections in HD?
At least you don't have to deal with dead pixels and the famous bezels. Not to say that you need to so in front of the LCD if you want to see a nice picture.

Cheers

Very true Nat!

But if you don't want to paint the ceiling and walls black (very understanding wife required) you could use black cloth to help the situation.

I did the blackening around the screen with 41 x 61 cm black matte mats from WalMart (99 cents each). They are fixed in place with Velcro:

and the ceiling and walls are blackened with black garden landscape fabric (very cheap):

Far less destructive and smelly than painting.  ;)

The whole blackening stuff may be removed  in three minutes.

Yes black cloth is very wife friendly :)
Luis, these are v2 HD projectors. Shame about the poor phone camera pics, Ill take some SLR
shots one day.
