Not that I'm tired of building, tweaking and flying, but I might have to sell what I have soon.

Found out Saturday that my fiancée and I are splitting up. Not sure I will have room for a sim wherever I end up for now.   I suppose I could put it in storage, but then I'm paying $100 a month for letting It sit there.

I might also say the hell with my current career and make a break to go fly now.  I know if I do that, with CFI wages, I'll be too. Por to afford the lockon the. Storage locker let alone paying to cartit all over the country.

John,

Sorry to hear the bad news about your personal life and I am sure that this fine community will be available to help you thru difficult times.

More important than "selling your cockpit" is to find your "true north" and not to act in desperation. Many of us have being there's and it comes as a shock. Mandatory is to focus on things that are important just for you, like keeping your job and putting more energy there.
Things change over time for the good but if your let you life implode, it becomes a challenge.

Be strong and I know, easy to say.
Good luck

Hi John

I would agree with Luis. Many of us had to weather that kind of storm and know how devastating it can be. As in any emergency, do not bailout, "aviate" and keep your hands on the controls , navigate to a safer heading by small increments, avoid steep turns and communicate with a bunch of good friends you have here.
Do not hesitate to PM (if you have to dial 121.5 !)
Bon courage.

HI John,

I too am sorry to hear about your newly "discovered" situation.  Those kind of shocks can really shake one's short-term outlook on everything.  I agree with the advice that you should not make any hasty decisions on selling your Sim.

As for the practical aspects of re-locating your Sim....   Consider partnering with someone at your local airport.  Many such folks would love to have a 737 Sim in one corner of their hangar in exchange for letting them use it, with you having access as well.  This kind of deal can be win-win and suited to your timing.  You may even make some new friends along the way.

Lastly...   There is not a person on the planet that has not gone through such trials and difficulties.  Know two things...  You are not alone, and there is always blue sky ahead - no matter how much time it takes to get there.   Keep cool and be very discerning about all you do - especially with respect to any and all short-term decisions you consider.  Also...   The things of this world can be consuming.  Building, owning, and operating a full-scale Sim will eat your lunch if you let it.  In that regard, stay keenly aware of the need to have a balance in life - where mind, body and spirit is constantly nourished and refreshed.

Best Regards,
Mike

Thanks guys....and John, I will call you, just stuck in Flight Instructor School this week.

Right now just figuring out living arrangements, will wait to sort the sim out once I get back home and can do some planning.

The good news is, I have been wanting to make the jump to flying as a second career for some time, but figured the paycut would be too severe on the family.  Well, as long as I can make sure my daughter will be OK, I see no better chance than now to take that risk!

Found my "lemonade" moment!

As you get older and reflect on your life, what will bother you the most are not the things that you did or the path you took but rather the things you didn't do or the path you didn't take.

Follow your karma & don't look back :)

Best wishes to you.

Follow your heart John!!!!
Circumstances change. Plans get interrupted. Life takes unexpected turns. Even so, remain calm and unshaken and stand on the solid ground of faith, knowing that my highest good is unfolding.
Cheers my friend,
Sam.

So I think I've come to the realization that the sim will have to go.  I have most of it down and in storage right now, but will post some pics inthe for sale area once I get moved in.

I just can't see getting it back together in the next couple years and I have a few things I'm chasing in life that may change things dramatically. So paying for it to sit in storage and lose value doesn't seem like a good option.

The tough part will be shipping it

I have

FDS MIP wired to SYS board! monitors installed and the v2 upgrade from FDS in a box include lower MFD unit from FDS

FDS CDU

737Yoke from Ali

Two weber seats

Old FDS Wood shell with a large box of legacy 737 liners

Real triangles

FDS fwd overhead wired, New SYS board needs to be put back in.  Includes those cool snap back cole type switches

Rev sim motorized throttle with new trim motor

Also have a ProSim license but doubt I can transfer it

PM me if you have interest. Haven't sat down to think out prices yet, way too much going on here.

Sorry to hear.  Hope all is okay.

Are you selling separates or the entire lot?  Interested in MIP and possibly TQ.

Thanks Keith.  Everything's fine.  Had a recent breakup that's caused some downsizing and I see a couple really good opportunities on the horizon that I'll never likely get another chance to do.  So just sorting my priorities and I'm not seeing putting the sim back up as one of them.

Separates is fine and probably easier.

Give me a week to get moved and settled in my new place and I'll post back up...

Noted though on what you want.

Oh! Also have a set of 2 Nav and 2 com FDS radios. These are not the backlit ones but work nice and for those creative with LEDs, you should be able to make it backlit.

I really appreciate all the interest, and the kind words in PMs.  I'm in the middle of separating five years worth of hers and his into respective piles and trying to get out of the house and into my new apartment.  Most of the Sim, except the shell and MIP, has been moved to storage.

I was given a deadline on Monday to have all my stuff except the shell out if here by the former GF, so please bear with me as that is my focus this weekend.

I will get back to all that inquired about costs and shipping. I received quite a few PMs, some requesting the same items pricing, and it think to be fair the first PM in would have first refusal.

I know a few of us have posted that we are moving on over the past few months, some have, some haven't. Be sure that I am.  Not because I don't enjoy the hobby, I'm an avid commercial pilot as well and just about ready for my CFI checkride.  It's just I dint have the space anymore and really don't plan on having it in the near future.  I don't want to store stuff for the sake of storing it and rather let someone else enjoy it at a price break, the hobby is already expensive enough.

As to my plans, I hope to remain active here, but I plan on downsizing from what I've collected over the previous 47 years.  I've always wanted to live overseas and have had a few short, les than a full year, opportunities when I worked for Boeing.  I had had my sights set on Italy for years, but realize it's not doable in the near term, and I don't wish to wait until I'm 60 to do it.

This year I will zero my debt and plus up my savings and polish my plan off, but I think by the end of 2014 or early 2015, I'll be moving to the Philippines.  Headed down there for 10 days next month and likely again in late January.  Tired of corporate rat race and the whole Defense industry I've spent 20+ years in......time to enjoy life a little more and this break-up is the best thing that's happened in 20 years!

Again, I will get back to each and every one starting late next week.  Thank you so much for your patience!

John
