Real Air sounds

Has anyone considered using "real" air noises? For packs etc.
Rather than using recordings I was thinking of simulating a couple of things using fans + tubes.

Anyone been down this road?

Has been done.
Can be effective, especially for AC.
Two Jabco turbines (drum fans) with proper ducting, picking up cold air from an AC unit in the sim room and ditributing it through vents. Turbines switched on by the packs via a relay card.
You may go a simpler route using 12v fans recirculating ambiant air. Louvers add noise.

Yeah, i was thinking 12v. Computer fans maybe.
Was wondering what to use to get the noise right. Will look at louvers.
Funny to think we normally try and silence fans...

I have partly done it at this stage and I can't recommend it enough
It really adds to the atmosphere (pun intended!). Luckily on my flightdeck, all the ducting was still in place, so it was a fairly straight forward job.
I have used one 24 volt turbine to push the air. I originally used a much smaller fan, but it didn't work - you need a pretty big fan, not only so you move enough air to be effective, but also so you get the ambient noise. Haven't hooked the 'Pack' switches in yet, but it's on the 'to do' list.
Seeming it's bloody freezing (well, to an Aussie standard) down here at the moment, I just sit a 2000 watt heater in front of the turbine to put hot air into the cockpit - see pic. Even on half power, it's enough to keep it comfortable.
My next step will be to hook up a portable AC unit like Jack mentioned for summer so those 40c days don't get in the way of my quality sim time!
