I spoke to Nikola about this very subject only a week or so ago, but there was no mention of this Pdf on their website.
I am aware of a few companies offering solutions with adjustable shutters, but their cost are prohibitive in a non-commercial environment.

The black offset can also be achieved by the use of gradated glass shutters attached to the lenses, i.e. going from opaque to black with gradation.

It's something I will be experimenting with over the coming months. I'd really like to come up with a cheap alternative to this problem,
