I dont think FSX supports Taxi lights

..or maybe the other way around. When I taxi, the lights turn when I turn the tiller and I don't think the landing lights would do that. So they may be one & the same since I do not see any difference when taxiing when I turn both of them on.

I think there is a add on you have to use to get the landing lights on the stock 737 in FSX. Been a while so I am not sure.

Mink

With the 3d redux light vom shockwave you get taxilights on the default 737.
Take a look in their forum. A2A forums.

Greetings from Germany.

I did install that a while back and I still did not see any difference on the ground if both lights are turned on. But it could well be I did not program my overhead lights correctly.

Mink

In the normal installation from the shockwave lights, you will not see them. You have to make manually changes in the aircraft config file. Which can also be found in the forum.

I guess I should have read the manual  :)

Hey Maurice,

Heading to doctor's now, but can show you the aircraft.cfg changes later. Actually, if you search CB you should find postings I did about that for the FSX default 737, and both the PMDG 737NG and 737NGX versions...

Thanks folks! I will implement the advice today.

Wonder how many PhD dissertations would be generated if one could cumulate all the insight on these forums about this hobby... :-)

Here are the aircraft.cfg's for the FSX default 737-800:

[LIGHTS]

Just copy and paste it as is, the line corrections will be done in the aircraft.cfg.

Just to confirm, the net of this discussion is that you absolutely need shockwave lights... Am i right?

Well you either need ShocKWave lights, another light add on or a aircraft that has landing lights built in.

Hi John,

I finally got around to trying to get the taxi light to work but it still does not work for me. On;y the landing lights are working. Not that big a deal since I never get to see the plane from the outside anyway but it still bugs me that they don't work  :). I have the Shockwave lights and the configuration in the aircraft.cfg file is the same as the one you posted earlier but no joy.

Anyway, if you have any ideas, please let me know but if not, that's quite OK as well.

Thanks,
Maurice

Hey Maurice and CPJ,

I will post how to do this later for the both of you...

Sam, same question as Gary? What's the deal? Have the electricians came yet? OMG! I'd be insane by now...uh, wait...I am insane already! Well, I'd be more insane then, if I was in your shoes! Does it have to be a certified electrician to do the work? Heck, the electrical codes tell you how to do everything, you can do it yourself and have it inspected by the county or local inspector. As long as he/she approves and you pay their bribe...oops, I mean fees, you should be good to go.

I hired a new electric company to finish the job, they said that the delay is on the transformer they have to custom build for the platform, according to them it will only take onother 3 weeks, but that is not what I was refering to when I said that "my FSX will not start" literally my FSX program will not start, I give up messing with it and pass it on to FDS, Steve was trying to get it running last night for hours, don't know what happened, it was working at FDS when it left, when it got to my place I tried to start it and keeps popping up a message with "FATAL ERROR, program will shut down", at start up, after a week I was upset, now I got used to it, Steve is going to continue working on it this afternoon. I think I'm ready for X-Plane!!!

mattford1

Sam-

Once you go to xplane you will never look back!  It's absolutely blows FSX out of the water in my opinion.  Not to say there won't be growing pains, but it's really worth it.  I know James and I are so glad we switched.

Best,
Matt
